Trail Sick Event: War Daddy and Sandlin Shred

War Daddy 68 mi

The War Daddy is a 68-mile mixed-surface mountain bike race consisting of pristine pavement, glorious gravel, daunting dirt, and double-track trails that will keep you begging for more.  Be ready to face some of the coolest areas in Kentucky including the infamous Hell for Certain, Devil’s Jump, Twist N Sourwood, and the one and only War Daddy! The paved roads are awesome, the gravel roads will make you smile yet mad as hell, and the double track will make you tickled pink that you are near the end.  The race will be approximately 68 miles long with 4 aid stations, 2 of which will be drop bag locations.  The elevation of the route will be in the neighborhood of 7,000-8,000 ft.

All categories will depart at the same cruising pace for a neutral rollout that will be about 5 miles before the flag drops and the racers will be wide open.  The roads will continue to be open to traffic and all laws of the road should be followed appropriately. We will have some volunteers pointing you in the right direction and slowing/stopping traffic in certain areas.  Also, check out the Facebook page for our event which will be updated regularly with new info about the race as well as provide you with more information about the course.  As we ride the sections and get them dialed for race day we will be providing some humorous clips of what to expect and what not to expect.

Sandlin’s Shred 32 mi

32 miles of fun awesome riding with 3,300 feet of elevation gain! Get warmed up on 2 miles of pavement before hitting the Red Bird Management Area and tackling an absolutely beautiful course that will take you up many rolling climbs. You’ll also get to hammer up the infamous War Daddy climb while on your way to the only aid station which will be around mile 18.  Other than the 2 miles of pavement at the start, there is only one more short paved portion just before hitting the War Daddy climb. The rest of the race is all off-road and very fun.

Bluegrass Mountain Cup-Duffield XC & Enduro

Bluegrass Mountain Cup-Duffield XC & Enduro

We’re starting off 2024 with a Louisville area classic, Ft Duffield! We had a blast bringing an enduro race to this trail system last year and are adding even more fun with an XC event this year! Duff has rooty hand built fun mixed with a flow trail. This small mountain overlooking the Salt and Ohio Rivers packs a punch, and will surprise many who have not yet been to this hidden gem. Portions of entry fees go to support the trails at Ft. Duff.

West Point, Kentucky sits on the Ohio River just south of Louisville, and north of Ft. Knox. It is likely to see a Black Hawk, Chinook, or other military aircraft flying overhead during the weekend while out on training drills. The Ft. Duffield trails are known as a classic to many KY and IN MTB riders as it’s been the host of Freeride features, Downhill races, and more modernly, the Enduro spot local to Louisville. We’re excited as this race will bring new school flow mixed with old school technical, and narrow racing. The runs are short, the climb is paved, and the times will be tight! Don’t miss out!

Race HQ will be in the main parking lot at Ft. Duffield. Parking will be down Honeysuckle Ln, and at the boat ramp/camping area. (We will share those details closer to the race.) We are working on getting arrangements for folks to camp for free if they like. More to come on all of that.

FREE SWAG - We will do something for the first X amount of racers. Trying to see what sponsors have. Sign up early and you will get in on the mix for the extra goodies.

COURSE DETAILS

The course will be well marked with signs and tape in needed areas. Over all the enduro will have many similar or same stages as 2023. The XC will be a shorter loop, but with some decent climbing and technical bits. Expect XC maps to launch late March. Enduro maps to launch two weeks before the race.

RACE PACKET

We send a race packet via email the week of the race to help answer questions about directions, scheudle, weather plans, etc. Typically you get that on Wednesday or Thursday of the race week. In the meantime, hit us up with questions.
